Back in April 2019, Maria and her friend came to visit us in Misawa. Maria was able to spend a week with us before having to return home. While here, she and her friend were able to visit the Air Base and this is them waiting to get their base pass.

Before leaving, Maria left us with a gift to remember her by when she planted several sunflower seeds in Miyako’s little flower garden. It is a delightful memory each time we see her sunflower.

This is a picture of the first sunflower to bloom from the seeds that Maria planted. There are several buds that will be blooming in the near future. I will take another picture and post after they have bloomed.
